"I translate my feelings and ideas into forms, layers of colour, lines, both in paintings and in my etchings, but also in my spatial work, these tell a story."

Communication and dialogue
The landscape spaces Frea creates are never introverted or hermetically sealed, but invite dialogue; just like Frea herself. Her whole life revolves around communication. Wanting to tell a story and finding the right form for it - as an artist, a teacher, a politically involved citizen and a member of an association - determine her artistic choices. She likes to be inspired generously by nature and by fellow artists in order to find new angles each time.
After several changes of studio in Almere Haven, Frea finally found her place in a beautiful, large studio at De Paal. Her painting became even more monumental. A development that is not only related to the optimal working conditions but also to her 3D work in which she uses metal gauze and Perspex. The interaction with her sculptures brings more transparency and space to her paintings.
Frea continues to be inspired to find new ways and take on new artistic challenges. Thus, blues and yellows blend into a lively green in her recent work. Her work is constantly evolving.
Connection and encounter typify Frea and her works of art. In her studio, at exhibitions, in public spaces, she makes connections and you will meet her colourful and at the same time modest works.
